SIGHUP, named pipes, performance data

Hi all,

When syslog receives a SIGHUP what happens to incoming
data? What happens to outgoing data?

If multiple processes are writing to a single facility
is it first-come-first-served? While writing to a
named pipe and receiving data from multiple processes
are there any arbitration issues that could lead to
loss of incoming (via UDP) or outgoing (to a named
pipe) data?

As part of the development process is there any
testing that takes place and if so are there any
results available?

I would be interested in seeing CPU/KiloByte.
