Argh! The problem is totally gone today. Mail messages are being
logged correctly. If/when this problem pops up again, I'll run a
sniffer in conjunction with syslod -d so I can get more information
comparing what the two different programs see.
I'm crossing my fingers this doesn't pop up again though...
