When the problem is "No magicpoint available" converting this to
"no firefox available", how does this help at all?

Most computers have a PDF viewer these days, so providing a
presentation as PDF files has some advantages. However, if it only
runs fine in non-free software, that's not the way Debian should
proceed.

Providing a primary format and a means to convert this into a
secondary format is more what Debian could and should do.
