I want to bring your attention to an open source software package,
Linux Event Logging for the Enterprise, which can be downloaded
from the project's homepage at

 http://evlog.sourceforge.net/

This package was created for two primary purposes:

1) To provide a reference implementation for the draft POSIX
standard for event logging (which is available on the website),
2) To provide an event and error logging package for Linux
that provides features and capabilities frequently
      required in multi-processor, Enterprise-class systems.

It is not the project's intention to replace printk and syslog, but to
supplement the existing capabilities with additional features that
are needed in larger systems, based on the experience of
companies like Intel, Hitachi, Fujitsu, SGI, IBM, and others.

Please take a look at the project website, try out the code
(currently only available for i386, but soon for ppc, 390,
and s390x), and send your thoughts to the mailing list:

evlog-developers@lists.sourceforge.net

You can also subscribe to the mailing list at:

Thanks,
Larry Kessler
